August – A special birthday

positive pregnancy test

On the 9th of August, 1977 I was born at around 2 in the afternoon, it was hot summer day and my mother hardly had time to get to the hospital, I was born in exactly 10 minutes.

On the 9th of August, 2018 at around 2 in the afternoon, I have turned into two souls. IVF is a different approach to the “natural” conception, on that day a beautiful five-day embryo was transferred back into my uterus, it took around 10 minutes from the start to finish, and on the 23rd of August, we found out we were pregnant.

It took me exactly 41 years to get to this day, some of us are late bloomers…

It started around 6 or 7 months ago…

After a couple of unsuccessful IVF rounds in England, I decided to stop thinking about fertility, pregnancy and just get on with my life. That is exactly what I did and enjoyed it. At the same time, as part of our New Year’s theme of the year (something me and Alan set at the start of every year) I have made an effort to live life more intuitively. That new idea led me to change my views on certain issues, including looking after my health. I have always thought I was eating healthy, exercising and meditating enough, but as soon as I decided to look deeper I have realized how much more room for the improvements there was.

It was around that time, I came across to the book by Emma Cannon Fertile: Nourish and balance your body ready for baby making, it really made me look at the fertility differently, the food I ate, how I ate, I also made some changes to my usual exercise routine.

For almost years, me and Alan have been entertaining the idea of spending summer in Georgia, this summer felt the right time for many reasons, one of those reasons was to have another go to the treatment back at home. I made some enquires and some friends who’d gone successfully through the same challenges recommended me that particular clinic and a doctor.  Again, it felt right so we packed everything we had in a storage unit, booked a one-way ticket to Tbilisi…

To the surprise of my doctors (due to my age of course) my body responded brilliantly well to the IVF treatment, and 3 months later we had a strong positive pregnancy test result :).

We are now back in England at home, but our intuitive journey took us to the most wonderful place and the outcome we could ever desire. The lesson so far? It’s always a good idea to follow your heart, use your mind and team up with your senses.

I wish you many intuitive journeys and adventures

Love
